About transforming/upcycling

This is a glimpse of The transformer project's artistic Residency.

Invited by Adam Laurence in his workshop,

I've been tasked with transforming and recyling half made ojbects and metal off cuts into furniture and Art. An approach led by a desire of upcycling old scraps and spare pieces inherent to craft activities.

Vinyl Displayer

This project aims to showcase artists's covers by offfering a quality framing made of steel.  An album on a shelf can be a great protection and a relief when it comes to handle vinyl while you're playing them.

This led us to a product design with this idea of record frames and makes displaying vinyl easier than ever before.

Argon Blue twin bench

This is a unique prototype which was created from one and a half stacking chairs, lefto over from a batch of furnitures made for a restaurant and some left over timber. The shade of blue colour replicates the argon gas bottle used in welding the metal.

 Bose speaker
bench

This bench was made from a large sapele off cut and a set of ladder brackets that housed two bose speakers and an amplifier.

Adjustable easel

I choose to work on a table that was designed by a customer who while we were making it, went to jail for a few month. For the little story, upon release he eventually came for the table, decided he hated it and walked away without paying. Very bad manners Adam thought. I came up with the idea of making it into an easel and completely transformed the mood of the object.

Coffee table

This is a very simple transformation a left over circle rolled for a project in a playground and some off cuts of handrail from a railing we made as well as left over mesh from the gates.

Stool

A stool created in a very short time. That was the idea in this approach. One sheet of wood found in a corner to match with a off cut little structure unused.

Storage

A very little storage

ideally thought

to handle vinyls.
